Introducing ‘Bash’

For my birthday last month I was gifted this beautiful typewriter from my best friend.

I have fallen in love with the stroke of every key which has further ignited my passion to write.  I’ve named him, Bash.  A few of my latest pieces are to follow, however I post my writing daily on Instagram at instagram.com/curly_miri

Mister ready to devour his Big Breakfast & my devine Blueberry pancakes. The Cozy Cafeteria.

My sister introduced me to these lovely Whoopie treats. Absolutely delicious!

Thursday Treats

1.  Coffee date with a few of my favourite people.  Brother, aunt and cousins Kat & Ash at Pah Homestead.  A beautiful and serene location surrounded by art sculptures, lush green pastures and of course lovely coffee.

The gorgeous Kat with her adorable hat. Take a look at her blog, here.

The charming sights of Pah Homestead.

2.  Mister and I were invited to a business Hall of Fame Dinner, an annual cocktail function.  I felt honoured to be in the presence of four inspiring inductees.  The inductees shared stories of humble beginnings and overcoming trials that lead to their much deserved success.  Mister and I later discussed our own plans as we move forward to achieve success with our own company.  Mister’s drive and passion to succeed is inspirational and our partnership makes me feel so grateful.  The Hall of Fame Dinner was definitely an eye opener, allowing me to realize that despite the difficult obstacles that may arise, success is always attainable.

3.  Delightful treats of the week.

Passionfruit Banana Cake from Columbus & Lemon Tart from Lucky Cafe

Lunch with my lovelies at Spices Thai Restaurant. I had the Chicken Pad Thai. A lovely combination of thai noodles with just a hint of spice, great fresh flavours and accompanied by vegetable money bags-delightful!

Breakfast with Mister at The Cozy Cafeteria. I had the Vegetable Stack with Salad and Mister had the Big Breakfast.

4.  Growing up, our family had a German Shepherd named Bingo.  I do not have many memories of Bingo as not long after my parents brought him home, he was taken away by the pound to be put down as he attacked a child.  This is Roxc, we share a lot of memories that make me smile.  She belongs to my aunt and is so loved.  I swear she acts nothing like a dog, very human-like, in a scary but lovely kind of way.  Roxc is an absolute treat.  This is her posing for a photo that will be part of my Book Club.

5.  THANK YOU! I am in awe of the beautiful name suggestions for my baby nephew who will arrive within 3 weeks-exciting!  As seen here, the suggestions were amazing.  My favourite picks:  Roman, Sebastian and Damien.  I can’t wait to be an aunt for the first time. I will be attending the Baby Shower tomorrow, hopefully my brother and his Miss will have a name picked from your suggestions soon.  I have spent the last few weeks browsing and checking out  baby stores.  I have come to the conclusion that there seems to be more of a market for girls than boys and I would love to have some of the baby gadgets, toys and blankies for myself, ha!  It has been an absolute joy being on the hunt for baby stuff.

Here are a few of my favourite baby treats.

I was happy to check out Trade Aid, a non for profit organisation.  My goodness, they have beautiful toys, knit wear and crafts for children AND adults.  I love their wooden musical instruments and these:

Baby Alpaca Booties from Trade Aid

Vintage Jars-my favourite thing right now.  These beauties can be used to store baby puzzles, baby blocks or yummy treats as seen here.

To my future baby (whenever you decide to come), this is a glimpse of what your room will possibly look like.

I have been thinking a lot about my desire to have children of my own.  I came across this quote that made me smile:

Thursday Treats

Winter still makes way for blooming beauty.

1.  The vibrant flowers and a gorgeous mosaic chair at Eden Garden.  A beautiful place to embrace the serenity of nature.

2.  My cousin, an art student asked me to assist with her Frame Project.  She asked me to create a frame that represented my personality and to include a photo of her and me.  I used a Metallica CD case, dried flowers and printed a black and white photo of us from a birthday party.

3.  Delightful treats that have helped to keep the cold weather at bay.

Delicious Caramel Oat Slice from Kowhai Cafe.

Mocha. Love the image on my to go coffee cup.

Pan Fried Chicken with Lemon Grass & Rice Noodles Soup at Hansan Vietnamese Restaurant.
Love their Green Tea. They have a great selection of chicken, lamb, pork and vegetarian soup dishes.

Every week I am grateful for the treats that I encounter however I must give fair reviews.  We checked out Broncos Steakhouse and we won’t be dining there again. Mister’s Lamb Shank tasted as if it had been cooked straight from the freezer, the vegetables were soggy and the gravy drowned the flavour of the mashed potatoes.  My potato wedges were bland and far from the cripsy warmness that I desired to keep the cold weather at bay.

Okay, let’s envision a Lamb Shank infused with garlic and rosemary and has simmered until the meat is tender and falling off the bone and every bite is melt in your mouth goodness.  Yeah, not what Mister had.    However, the friendly staff and garlic bread were treats of our experience at Broncos.

For a delicious Lamb Shank or Steak that will fill you with gratifying goodness and combat the cold weather I recommend Lonestar or Jervois Steakhouse.  We walked out the door and said in unison, “Should have gone to Lonestar.”

My sisters stopped by with my favourite afghan cookies from Columbus.

Mochas and chocolate fish with Mister.

4.  I am floral obsessed.  My favourite purchase this week-vintage floral skirt.

5.

Mister.  Every day with him is a treat.  I am so grateful for the way he makes me laugh, for his kindness and his unconditional love.  Mister is the very essence of my happiness, he gives me a beautiful life and love; the kind of love that I wish every person could have.

Thursday Treats

1.  Mister and I decided to take a winter stroll along the beach-beautiful and serene.

2.  We checked out Cozy Cafeteria.  A small and inviting cafe nestled in the heart of Onehunga.  Mister had the Big Breakfast and of course I had to try their Eggs Benedict.  The presentation of our meals was great. My breakfast had a hash brown and salmon in the mix, however to my surprise no hollandaise sauce which is what I have always considered to be integral in elevating the Eggs Benedict experience.  Eggs Benedict is just not complete without hollandaise sauce.   Overall, it was a lovely treat. We ordered Mocha’s to go and we were given two complimentary Jaffas, a cute touch.

Mister about to dig into his Big Breakfast.

My Eggs Benedict with Salmon & Hash Brown.

Mochas and Jaffas to go.

3.

I enjoyed brunch with mum on Saturday at Columbus.  We discussed this blog.  I told her about the posts I published and she had many questions about Infidelity On Your Doorstep.

Mum enjoyed a bagel with salmon and avocado. I had the creamy chicken pasta.

4.  Mister and I enjoyed a long drive along the Pacific Coast Highway-beautiful scenery.

5.  With freedom, books, flowers and the moon.  Who could not be happy? -Oscar Wilde

Thursday Treats

1.  Coffee Date with Mister.  Mocha with a banana berry muffin.

2.  The mustard cardigan I’m wearing on my coffee date with Mister reminds me of these beautiful autumn leaves I captured today.

3.

Thrift purchase:  Floral Blazer-Made In New Zealand by Betty R Designs.
As soon as I saw the floral pattern I had to buy it, and at $10-a great buy!  It reminds me of this ASOS Premium Quilted Jacket.

4.  This week was full of tasty treats.

Salmon Eggs Benedict: I always ask for a hash brown on the side, an odd combination but one of my favourites on the breakfast menu at Hollywood Cafe.

Mister surprised me with these devine chocolates as seen in this post.

A melting moment devoured in less than four minutes, so yummy!  A treat from The Coffee Club.

Mister and I checked out Hong Kong Bakery.  Our relatives have  raved about their delicacies so we had to try it ourselves.  I picked the coconut scroll and apple raisin danish-oh my goodnes, melt in your mouth deliciousness!

5.

My sister shared this photo of herself sliding down the stairs on her mattress.  This made me laugh and reminded me of a childhood memory; everytime my brother and I went to McDonald’s we used the plastic trays on the playground slide, fun times!
