Hi beautiful people.

It has been a lovely week, I celebrated my birthday yesterday with my love with the realisation that life’s simple pleasures nourish the soul.

deceit

This piece is derived from the experience of first love.  I wrote this to encompass the notion of disappointment, disgust and betrayal.  Love does that sometimes.

Be kind

Often we take for granted the words we speak, unaware of the harshness or negative influence it may have on another person.  I wrote this after being upset with the burning words of a person who I love.  Always speak kindly.

couragefinal

I wrote this for my sister on her birthday.  Leah turned 22 and is currently living in Australia.

Serenity

When my mind is clouded and I can’t help but dwell upon pain from the past, a simple kiss or touch from my love can wash it all away.

Thursday Treats

I celebrated my birthday this week with a family dinner at home.  Made me think of a past birthday where I was in Sataoa, riding on a canoe through the mangroves.  It is in these moments of reflection that I realize the importance of time, love and being happy.  You can never turn back time or embrace your youth again.

Have I used time to the best of my ability?  I believe I have given my all to be a supportive, loyal and loving partner to Mister, a caring daughter, sister and aunt.  I have confirmed my placement for University next year, with only four papers to complete it is a realistic goal to achieve.  I’ve started writing a Novel which highlights the life of a young woman and her experiences of sexual abuse.  I will see where this Novel takes me, as my passion to write correlates with my sense of being.

Love.  Read through my blog and it is blatantly obvious how much I am in love with Mister.  This blog has enabled me to be honest without reserve and that will not ever change.  Will Mister and I ever get married?  That is what I think every time a birthday passes by.

Let’s take into consideration three significant factors of life; time, love and being happy.  If life is short, love is rare and being happy is paramount, then why do we wait to live the life we want?

Best thing about my birthday?  My family.  My mister.

Beautiful orchids from Mister and scrumptious b’day cake made by my sister. It was a surprise and once she told me it was an ice cream cake I was over the moon. I’ve always wanted one as it reminds me of The Babysitter’s Club movie I watched repeatedly as a kid, ha!

Elijah had a sleepover so thought I would get him to help with the chores.  You know, start ’em young!

Coffee date with Mister at Fresh Gallery Otara.
Otara is a low socio-economic area that has made news headlines in New Zealand regarding high rates of crime.  What the news does not reveal is the beautiful culture and talent found in this town.  Every Saturday morning a Flea Market brings together a range of stalls selling cultural crafts, delicious food and a showcase of various singing and dancing talent.

Mister I stopped by the the Fresh Gallery Otara to check out the art on display and we were surprised with the great cafe, selling food and coffee at half the price of what we usually pay at our local cafe.

Mocha time!

Mister had the big breakfast, 2 poached eggs, 2 sausages, bacon and toast. $12. Cafe’s in Auckland usually charge up to $22.50 for this. I had a chicken and camembert panini for $5.90. The usual price in cafes is $9.50 and this came with salad and chutney.

Thursday Treats

1.

September is the official start to Spring, my favourite season of the year with the most beautiful flowers in bloom.  While on a coffee date with my sister we spotted a Daffodil sale at a florist and grabbed a few bunches to arrange in my glass vases.  A great start to Spring!

2.

Mister celebrated his “21st” birthday.  I think this is the 10th time he has celebrated his 21st birthday, ha!  Mister’s birthday lunch was at the lovely Atico Cocina.  In the evening we celebrated Mister’s birthday with a great group of friends.  We danced the night away and I had to mend his hangover the next day.  I am so glad Mister enjoyed his birthday, he brings so much joy to my life and it was good to see him having a great time.  Happy birthday, my love.

Mister enjoyed Dominican Seafood with Prawn, mussels, white fish, squid in a rich crayfish okra rice.
I had the Yucatan Tuna Pan Seared Citrus Infused Yucatan Style Tuna with rice pilaf and spicy salsa, a delicious treat. I also made club sandwiches and cheese and fruit platters for the evening celebrations.

An enjoyable night celebrating Mister’s birthday.

Delectable treats of the week.

Coffee date with my beautiful sister.

Dinner at Mexicali in Newmarket with a few of my favourite people. The Taco Salad-yum!

Spinach with hollaindaise sauce on a bed of sauteed mushrooms and hash browns at Coronation Restaurant & Cafe. The hollaindaise sauce just took me to another level-delightful.

Mister had creamy mushroom and bacon with ciabatta bread. I had a few bites too of course. A lovely balanced creaminess with crispy bits of bacon. At Coronation Restaurant & Cafe.

Caramel Brownie-moist and rich. The best brownie ever! You see how the lower part is missing? Mister decided to take a bite before I could snap a photo, lol.

4.

Emerald Green Clutch with Gold detail.  A great buy as the Clutch was on sale and green is my favourite colour.  The gold detail reminds me of my Italian puzzle ring that my brother and his partner bought for me from Florence last year.

5.

The most beautiful treat. My nephew Elijah. I love being an aunt. Just being in Elijah’s presence, giving him cuddles and seeing him smile makes me so happy. I am in the process of writing a children’s book in honour of Elijah.

My handsome nephew, Elijah. Our latest photo together, taken last night.  After reading the first two chapters of The Hunchback of Notre Dame he drifted off to sleep.
